The skinny face, sometimes known as gaunt, can appear in both the old and young. It's seen with greater regularity as you ages with lack of fat inside the cheeks and side from the face. However it also occurs being a normal makeup os some people's facial architecture even when you are relatively young. (Abraham Lincoln is easily the most famous example from an historical perspective, actor Scott Glenn yet others will be more recent examples) Known medically as facial lipoatrophy, it may also occur from certain diseases and medications. (including HIV) Fat replacement by injection is both could possibly along with a non-invasive way of its treatment.
Fat grafting has become more popular then ever and is ideal for the gaunt face. Fat is harvested using a small liposuction cannula from a suitable donor site. How much fat needed does not usually alllow for an important contour alternation in the donor site. So patient's shouldn't expect they're getting a similar liposuction result elsewhere. I use stomach fat harvested from inside the waist line. There is no scientific evidence yet that supports one donor site over another in terms of being better fat that will last longer after transfer.
Body fat is ready by removing loose liquids and impurities by washing and then spinning it in a centrifuge. It is then place into syringes and injected in to the desired facial areas through the corner of the mouth, a crease before the ear, or inside crease from the nasolabial fold. Body fat is injected in multiple small tunnels in a criss-crossing pattern when possible. The injected fat will then be massaged around until it really is smooth without obvious irregularities.
Injecting fat in to the face is a bit of a creative art form. In the gaunt face, the location underneath the cheek bones and to the side with the face will be the most frequent. But other areas can be carried out too including below the eyes and round the bottom of the nose. The amount of ฉีดไขมันหน้า
is pretty small with lower than 10cc in each side of the face. It could be surprising how even small volumes of fat can create a significant volumetric difference.
This process can comfortably be achieved under local anesthesia, with oral or IV sedation if desired. Be it completed in work or even an OR suite depends upon which gives the very best sterility and it has the required equipment for fat harvesting and preparation.
The unknown variable on this process of every patient is the place much fat will survive. One should not expect that 100% fat survival will occur. However the lateral face and cheek area are regarded as probably the most favorable with studies reporting as much as 70% retention. My experience is nearer to 50% so some overfilling is usually done. What one sees at 90 days after treatment should be expected to become retained long-term.
In older patients that could involve some loose skin inside the jowl or neck, it can be coupled with a small or tuck-up facelift for even better results. Even though the fat does add volume and may help fill some lax skin, improvement underneath the facial hollows must result from skin tightening. I have seen some reports which tout that the overlying skin improves after fat grafting, suggesting that the new fat somehow rejuvenates aging skin. Some claim that its will be the aftereffect of the transplanted stem cells. I doubt that we now have such effects however the underlying volume fill does loosen up the overlying skin and will give the impression of smoother skin.
